About GoToMeeting

GoToMeeting is cloud-based software provided by the company LogMeIn that’s focused on virtual meetings and streamlining communications between teams all over the world. It does this by putting up the tools you need to host and join face-to-face HD video calls. GoToMeeting is one of the most widely recognized and easy-to-use video conferencing software providers that’s available and millions of happy users have helped solidify its reputation as the go-to company for any of your virtual meeting requirements.

GoToMeeting allows you to schedule meetings any time and from anywhere, thanks to its compatibility with Mac, PC, Chromebook, Linux desktops and mobile devices. To get started, all you’ll need is an internet connection and a webcam. As GoToMeeting prides itself on offering HD quality video calls, it’s worth investing in a decent webcam to make the most of what it has to offer.

What Does GoToMeeting Offer?

Gone are the days where you’d have to fly thousands of miles to take part in a meeting with business associates or potential clients. GoToMeeting’s video conferencing features make it one of the easiest conferencing services to use for anyone interested in hosting and joining virtual meetings. 1-click meetings for Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge or the GoToMeeting mobile app mean you can join meetings no matter where you are in the world at the simple click of a button.

GoToMeeting offers a ton of features to its users, including their own personal meeting room. This meeting room has its own unique URL that can be shared with future participants that are able to join at any time they wish. This means you won’t have to waste your time searching through your inbox to dig out the original meeting invite you were sent only to later find out you’d deleted it anyway.

Unlike face-to-face physical meetings, you won’t need to worry about potential interruptions by someone accidentally entering into the wrong virtual room. All of the video sessions hosted through GoToMeeting are completely secure thanks to SSL and AES encryption – perfect for discussing sensitive business strategies and information. As an added security bonus, you’ll also be able to protect your meetings with a password.

You’ll never have to worry about missing anything important ever again. You can access video recordings such as MP4 files and GoToMeeting has even been recently updated to automatically transcribe speech for certain packages. This means you can focus more on what you’re saying and less on making sure you’re taking the correct notes. Transcripts delivered through GoToMeeting also include the ability to search for specific keywords and view the talk time of all of the participants in that meeting. You know, just in case you ever wanted to make sure your colleagues or any subordinates aren’t letting the team down.

Key Features

As well as experiencing HD video calls and audio quality, GoToMeeting is able to sync with programs and applications such as Office 365, allowing you to easily manage, schedule and join upcoming meetings directly from your Office calendar. It also offers a drawing mode, so participants can freely draw or make notes in the middle of virtual meetings. Premium subscribers won’t have to worry about taking notes though, thanks to the quality transcription services that are offered on the platform, one of its most impressive features by far.

GoToMeeting supports a variety of different language modes, including Chinese, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. All video meetings are supported by business messaging too, allowing users to communicate without interrupting the natural flow of conversation.

Plans

GoToMeeting provides three subscription packages at a range of different prices. These packages have been designed to cater to the needs of different sized businesses rather than individuals. Unlike other video conferencing software providers, there’s no free plan on offer, although you’re able to try before you buy with a limited free trial of most of the features that are on offer.

Professional Plan - $12.00 per month/ user

The price of your professional plan, essentially a base subscription, will provide you with unlimited video and audio meetings with no caps on a meeting time. You’ll also be able to seamlessly share your screen with other users and access all of the instant chat features that the platform has to offer. For those of you interested in hearing about privacy features, one of the biggest benefits of using GoToMeeting is the ability to create your own personal meeting room – a feature that’s included within the professional plan. Up to 150 participants are able to join a virtual meeting (but not use their webcams).

Business Plan - $16.00 per month/ user

For an additional four dollars a month, you’ll be able to access transcripts of all your virtual meetings thanks to unlimited cloud reporting – a feature that records and shares your meetings in the cloud. Transcripts of meetings can be shared across all of the participants that took part in the meeting but if you still have the desire to scribble and take notes, you’ll be able to take full advantage of the drawing tools and note-taking features that are included under the business plan. The business plan also increases the number of participants that are able to join a virtual meeting from 150 to 250.

Enterprise Plan - Bespoke Price Packages

GoToMeeting goes one step further and provides you with your own customer success manager and onboarding and training services. Unfortunately, you won’t get the same level of transparency for its prices and are encouraged to contact a member of the GoToMeeting team to learn more about what’s available. Ultimately, unless you’re a massive corporation, the enterprise plan probably isn’t for you – unless you find yourself suddenly needing to host a virtual meeting with up to 3000 participants (which, let's admit it, is unlikely).

Summary

GoToMeeting makes hosting and joining virtual meetings as simple as it should be. With added features including the ability to access meeting transcripts and revisit recorded meetings through the cloud, you won’t have to worry about missing anything important ever again. Unfortunately, those features come at a price that’s considerably higher than most other video conferencing software providers. GoToMeeting is perfect for those of you who are regularly required to access virtual meetings but don’t fancy shelling out for something you’ll only use a couple of times a month.
